On the occasion of International Pediatric Surgery Day 2026, the planned programs were successfully carried out under the initiative of the Association of Pediatric Surgeons of Bangladesh (APSB) and organized by the Department of Pediatric Surgery of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Today, Tuesday (7 April), the day’s activities began at around 8:15 AM with a colorful rally held on the premises of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The chief guest of the rally was Professor Dr. Md. Mazharul Shahin, Principal of Dhaka Medical College.
Special guests included Brigadier General Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman, Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, and Professor Dr. Md. Abu Jafar, President of the Association of Pediatric Surgeons of Bangladesh.
The event was presided over by Professor Dr. Md. Chhamidur Rahman, Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Also present were Dr. Ashfaq Nabi, Treasurer; Dr. Md. Shahin Reza, Joint Secretary; Dr. Mohammad Mahbubul Alam, Scientific Secretary; Dr. Kaysar Yamin Ishad, Organizing Secretary; Dr. A.K.M. Samsuddin, Publication Secretary; Dr. Chadruddin Al Masud, Office Secretary of the Association of Pediatric Surgeons of Bangladesh; along with respected professors from various departments, physicians, residents, intern doctors, and nursing staff.
The overall coordination of the program was supported by Dr. Naeem Hasan and Dr. Farzana Ali.
Through the rally, the importance of raising public awareness about surgical diseases in children and the need for advanced medical treatment services was highlighted.
The organizers stated that the observance of International Pediatric Surgery Day aims to increase awareness about the importance of pediatric surgical treatment, ensure quality healthcare services, and encourage everyone to work together to ensure the good health and well-being of children.
